Eastern Michigan University Center for Entrepreneurship

Established in 1986, in the College of Business, EMU's Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE) strives to enhance a culture of entrepreneurship in the EMU community by supporting a strong entrepreneurship curriculum and offering a variety of co-curricular programs. The CFE also encourages local entrepreneurship by engaging EMU students and faculty in innovation, business creation and growth in southeast Michigan.

Academic Curriculum

This includes a major in entrepreneurship for College of Business (COB) students pursuing a bachelor's in business administration (B.B.A) program, a minor in entrepreneurship for students outside the COB, graduate certificate (both face-to-face and online) in entrepreneurship for anyone with a bachelor's degree and finally, a specialization in entrepreneurship for master's in business administration students.

Skandalaris Business Plan Competition

University (and high school) students compete in separate categories for a chance at thousands in prize money, with the top three placers presenting their plans at the Sesi Entrepreneurship Conference in February. All EMU students are eligible to compete and we happily accept plans that are part of a group project for class. 

 

ID Ventures

ID Ventures was created by the nonprofit Invest Detroit in 2009 to enhance its overall mission to support inclusive growth of entrepreneurial ventures. As one of few venture funds located in Detroit, ID Ventures is one of the most active early stage investors in the state and has invested in over 120 Michigan-based companies across multiple sectors including life sciences and healthcare, information technology, fintech, mobility, advanced manufacturing and materials, among others. ID Ventures only invests in Michigan-based companies, or those that are in the process of relocating, and oversees additional programs designed to grow and support the state’s startup ecosystem.

Michigan Angel Fund

The Michigan Angel Fund is the largest angel group in our state. We invest in Michigan only tech start-ups that are capital efficient and have sales revenue or near revenue.
