ACE is an annual event that celebrates and promotes entrepreneurship in Michigan. It began as a joint meeting between New Enterprise Forum and the MIT Enterprise Forum of the Great Lakes. First held in 2001 at the Eagle Crest Conference Center in Ypsilanti, the original meeting featured a broadcast from an MIT Enterprise Forum in Massachusetts, a Showcase Presentation from a company seeking angel/VC funding, and elevator pitches from several early stage entrepreneurial companies. Several other non-profit business support organizations lent their support to organizing and promoting the event.

The event eventually outgrew the Eagle Crest Conference Center, moved to Washtenaw Community College, and became ACE - the Annual Collaboration for Entrepreneurship. Each year, ACE brings together 200-300 entrepreneurs, service providers, investors, students, government agents, and other members of the business community to network, learn, and strengthen Michigan's entrepreneurial environment.

Now in its eighth year, the ACE '08 program includes:

  • Three new interactive Workshops: Innovation in Michigan, Tapping Michigan Resources, and The Migration from GM to Gee-Whiz
  • A Showcase Presentation by a growing entrepreneurial company
  • The ACE Elevator Pitch Competition: Six pitches, judged by an investor panel with the winner recognized
  • Presentation of the Phase I Great Lakes Entrepreneur’s Quest Awards
  • An Entrepreneurs Exhibit Display Hall, this year with a new a Poster Presentation Area for very early-stage concepts
  • Refreshments and Networking
